Hanuman Aarti: Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki — Lyrics & Meaning

Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki is sung at the close of every Hanuman puja. Each verse is a declaration of his power and a direct call for his protection. Here are the lyrics and what they mean.

What is Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki?

This is the principal aarti sung at the close of Hanuman puja — recited after the Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays, at Hanuman temples, and during any moment when a devotee calls on Bajrangbali for strength or protection. Unlike many aartis, which are gentle in tone, this one is an act of energy. It is meant to be sung loudly and with full feeling. The word aarti comes from the Sanskrit arati, meaning the removal of darkness — and this hymn removes the inner darkness of fear.

What do the verses mean?

Chorus — "Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki": Let us perform the aarti of Hanuman Lala — our beloved, our divine child. He possesses the divine art of Raghunath (Ram) to destroy the wicked. Through Hanuman, Ram's power becomes directly accessible to every devotee.

Verse 1 — "Jake Bal Se Girivar Kaanpe": Such is his strength that mountains tremble. All diseases and all defects flee from his mere presence. This verse is the devotee's first line of refuge when facing illness or difficulty.

Verse 2 — "Anjani Putra Maha Balwaan": Son of Anjana, the most powerful of warriors. He is also revered as the spiritual son of Lord Shankara (Shiva), combining the strength of Vayu (his divine father) with Shiva's grace. He is Veer Hanuman — the Great Hero.

Verse 3 — "Yeh Aarti Jo Koi Nit Gaave": Whoever sings this aarti every day shall attain the highest spiritual state. This is the Vedic principle: consistent, sincere devotion to the divine is the direct path to liberation.

How do you perform Hanuman aarti correctly?

Apply sindoor to the murti first — it is his most sacred offering, and no Hanuman puja is complete without it. Place a chameli (jasmine) garland around the murti or offer fresh red flowers. Light a sesame oil lamp (til ka tel) rather than ghee — this is specifically preferred for Hanuman. Ring the bell and sing the aarti with full voice. Move the thali in seven clockwise circles. Offer boondi or laddoo as prasad. On Tuesdays, add jaggery (gur) and gram (chane) to the offering.
